He’ll give behind the scenes info about the wild, riotous concerts of
1964 and 1966. Come view rare footage of the 1966 concert at Cleveland
Stadium.

Community Yard Sale, Sunday, July 20th from 10 am to 2 pm.

Clean out your attic! Simplify your life by getting rid of those things
you don’t need. Be a seller at the Twinsburg Library’s first Community
Yard Sale. Sellers will be assigned a space on the library parking lot
at no charge on a first come, first served basis. Sellers provide their
own table and chair and may unload their wares beginning at 9:15 a.m.
Reservations must be made in person at the library beginning July 7.
Admission to this event is free, so come and enjoy a fun day of bargain

Absentee Voting

If you will not be in town to vote on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 for the Special Election, you can pick up an Absentee Application at our Circulation desk or download an absentee ballot request at http://www.summitcountyboe.com/

The Board of Elections website states:
Voters should request an absentee ballot as early as possible in order to meet the return deadline.

· Mail-in Applications must be received by noon on the Saturday prior to the election you wish to vote in.

· We can not accept faxed absentee requests. They must be mailed.

· The last day for Absentee Voting is the Monday before the close of business, prior to Election Day.

· Do not drop your Absentee Ballots off at your polling location. They will not be counted.

· All ballots must be received by 7:30pm at the Summit County Board of Elections on Election Day.

Nobody Uses Or Needs Libraries Anymore!

I hear this often, "libraries are a thing of the past," "everyone will be reading only ebooks in 2 years," (they told me the last one in 2001!)
As I went out on Tuesday afternoon around 2:15 p.m. to see how my staff was doing, I reveled in the fact that the library staff was entirely too busy to speak to their director! TeenCrossings was full of computer users and students looking for book recommendations, Children's Place was full of children doing crafts, looking for summer reading books with their parents, and signing up for Summer Reading Club. "Surely," I thought, "the adult services staff will have time for me." But no, they had a line of people at the information desk, a room full of patrons looking for CDS, books, and DVDS. The "living room" was full of patrons catching a catnap or using the library's WI-FI. There were tutors at desks helping students prepare for the next school year. And of course the computer lab and check out desk were as busy as usual.

Your library is vital and breathing...not a dead institution. After only 2 and 1/2 weeks into summer reading we have 1400 students signed up! Through June 14 alone, we have circulated over 44,000 items! Visit us...be part of the excitement!

Issue 3, August 5

Each Twinsburg School District resident will receive a mailing this week, presenting the basic facts of Issue 3, the Library's additional levy issue on the ballot this August. The 1 mill levy will generate approximately $799,000 to help the library maintain its current operations; expand hours, remain open on Sundays during the summer months (beginning in 2009); cover costs related to the mandated minimum wage increases and proceed with needed repairs and improvements that had been put on hold due to the lack of funds.

Gaming @ TPL

Tweens & Teens 8-13 are welcome to come in and use the Library's Wii and Dance, Dance, Dance Revolution on Mondays June 16, July 7 and July 21 from 6:30-8:00 p.m.

DQ Nite for Citizens Supporting Twinsburg Public Library

Denny Symes of the Twinsburg Dairy Queen has been kind enough to host a special fundraiser for the Citizens Supporting Twinsburg Public Library Committee on Wednesday, June 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. Please support the committee by patronizing DQ on the 25th and mentioning the library. Representatives from the library will be on hand to answer any questions you might have about the upcoming Library Levy Issue #3, that we will be voting on August 5, 2008.

Loss of Friend

The Twinsburg Public Library is saddened to learn of the passing of Virginia Ford.
Better known to staff as "Ginny," she moved Twinsburg, Ohio with her husband, the late Manley L. Ford, MD in 1947, she served for many years on the board of the Twinsburg Public Library, and later as the Clerk Treasurer until 1999. Ginny was very active in the community, and was very dear to the Twinsburg Library staff.

"Virginia was preceded in death by parents Floyd and Mary Wager, brothers Thomas and James Wager, and sister Dorothy Wolf. She is survived by daughter Terry Ford Sosnowski PhD (Thomas Sosnowski) of North Canton, Ohio; sons Trent Ford (Celia Drummond) of Roquebrune sur Argens, France; Manley Ford Jr. (Krisann Hester) of Milford, Michigan; Kirwin Ford (Jeanie Ford) of Staten Island, New York; and Kennard Ford MD (Jean Ford) of Akron, Ohio. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to call at the family home at 2604 Maple Drive, Twinsburg, Ohio 44087, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday June 15. Services will be held at the First Congregational Church of Twinsburg, United Church of Christ on the square in Twinsburg at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 16 with burial to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg. Arrangements are being made by Johnson-Romito Funeral Home in Twinsburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Twinsburg Public Library Foundation, the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation or the World Wildlife Federation."
