Congratulations to the Poetry and Short Story Contest Winners!

The 2009 Poetry and Short Story Winners were announced at the Cause on Friday, March 27th. Contestants' work has been printed in a special keepsake book sponsored by the Twinsburg Rotary Club. Event to Benefit Aluminum Cans for Burned Children

Friday, March 27 from 6:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. - Enjoy Poetry • Drama • Musical Presentations performed by Twinsburg's most talented teen and indulge in: various coffees, soft drinks, and special desserts in TeenCrossings at the Twinsburg Public Library

This event's proceeds benefits Aluminum Cans for Burned Children by sending children who are burn victims to their own special summer camp. Call 330-425-4268 ext. 6 for details.

Volunteers Needed & Appreciated.

The Library is currently in need of volunteers to help with various projects within the library. We need help with the unpacking and routing in of our delivery from other libraries; putting away DVDs and other AV materials; small cleaning projects and more. Please contact Mary Peper at 330-425-4268 x 114 in you are interested in helping, or stop by the front desk and fill out a volunteer application! You'll join a very loyal group of volunteers and find the experience to be rewarding. The Friends of the Library are also looking for help in their gift shop. Reader's Row has Poet Laureate Coming to Hudson!

The Readers' Row consortium - Hudson Library and Historical Society, Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library, and Twinsburg Public Library, in conjunction with The Learned Owl Book Shop - present former Poet Laureate Rita Dove. Ms. Dove will speak at the Hudson Library and Historical Society on Thursday, April 16th, at 7pm. Tickets are available at Hudson's reference desk - limit 4 per person. Congratulations to Local Students

District students have been busy with academics, sports, music and good works. Our High School Girls basketball team is headed to the "Sweet 16" after defeating Shakers Heights last Thursday 59-53. Their next game is Tuesday at 6:15 against Canton McKinley at the Canton Civic Center.
In wrestling, Twinsburg placed 8th at states and former Battle of the Books champ Chet Bissell took 7th.
The Great Expectations show choir took first-runner up at the Southern Showcase invitational in Alabama.
RBC students will be performing 12 Angry Jurors on March 19 & 20 at 7:00 pm. Students, children and seniors $2, Adults $5.
The Twinsburg High School Pep Club recently sold red t-shirts to benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.

Thank you to all Poetry and Short Story Contestants

The end of the Poetry and Short Story Contest was March 1, and we were delighted to have over 75 adult and teen submissions for the contest. The winners will be announced at Coffee for a Cause on March 27, which begins at 6:45 pm in TeenCrossings. All poems and selected short stories will be published in a keepsake volume that will be for sale at the event, courtesy of the Rotary Club of Twinsburg, and all proceeds benefitting Aluminum Cans for Burned Children. Don't miss the chance to see your work in print and to support a great cause!

Music Returns to Library

You loved the Cavani Quartet! Come back for our new music series in April. "Steppin' Out" will perform Smooth Jazz, Smokey Blues and Great American standards on April 19 @ 2pm.

On Tuesday, April 28th, at 7 pm, Russian Duo Oleg Kruglyakov and Terry Boyarsky will perform both classical pieces and folk songs.
