TPL Theater A Resounding Success

Thanks to the Friends of the Twinsburg Library, volunteer Beth Noga, instructors Katie and Debbie Vogias and many talented students, TPL became a community theater for two days last week. The Drama Camp Kids under the direction of the Vogias mother and daughter team performed Happily Never After, and the TeenCrossings Acting Troupe under the direction of Mrs. Noga performed The Fairy Godmother's Assistant and Once Upon a Wolf. Over 50 children were active in these productions, and performed to well over 300 people. The Friends of the Twinsburg Library make the teen plays possible by paying for royalities, costumes and much more. We also receive support from the Twinsburg High School. The Drama Camp for school-age students was new this year, and 25 students attended the camp for a week for a minimal $50. Theater has a special place here at the Library-and we hope to continue it in the years to come!

The United Book Cart Drill Team of Northeast Ohio

The Twins Days Festival takes place on the first full weekend in August, and is open to all identical and fraternal twins, triplets, quadruplets and their families. On Saturday, the Double Take Parade begins at 9 a.m. on the square in Twinsburg.

This year, the parade will be featuring the United Libraries Book Cart Drill Team of Northeast Ohio, a precision drill team made up of librarians from different libraries around the northeast. In an effort to show cooperation between libraries, Beth Hatch, a reference librarian at Twinsburg Public Library, coordinated the effort to bring libraries together to support one another with a brigade to benefit all participating libraries with their special events. This year’s team consists of 3 Twinsburg librarians, Beth Hatch, Mark Simon, and Peggy Myers, and Bea Adzema, a volunteer at the library. Joining the team are librarians, Gerry Bray from Hubbard Public Library in tow with her her sixteen month old twins to ride on the float; Barbara Gercken from Barberton Public Library; and Carol Hawthorne from the Warrensville branch of the Cuyahoga Public Library.

Breaking 100,000!

In baseball, batters hope to have a 400 average; in horse racing, it is the Kentucky Derby; in golf a score of 50; tennis a match won 6-0, 6-0, 6-0; in the old gymnastics scoring- a perfect '10' and for a realtor a million dollar sale-but for the Twinsburg Public Library staff today it was learning that we had circulated over 100,000 items in one month! 107,199 materials in fact. This is the first time the library has had a circulation over 100,000 items in one month. High circulation is a reflection of the fact that we are purchasing the materials that customers want, that we are getting it to them quickly and efficiently, and most importantly that our residents and customers are supporting us. Thank you for your very generous support and use of your library.
