Ohio State Senator Kevin Coughlin to visit Library

With the Wild About Eyes kiosk exhibit arriving on Friday, September 28, at Twinsburg Public Library, Ohio State Senator Kevin Coughlin will visit our Library on Monday, October 1, at 10:30 a.m. to read to the Preschool Class. We welcome Senator Coughlin and the staff of the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery.

Local History and Genealogy Resources

A variety of information is available to help you get started in researching your family tree or in searching local history. The Bissell Local History Room contains books and a computer terminal to access genealogy data bases. The BLHR also has back issues of Twinsburg newspapers, school yearbooks, a cemetery listing for Locust Grove Cemetery, magazines such as Ohio History and Ancestry, and past government documents such as City of Twinsburg annual reports and Summit County planning reports. See any of our helpful librarians at the Information Desk for help in using the BLHR.

Drive-up Window alert

The parking area adjacent to the TeenCrossings/Meeting room entrance will be sealcoated Wednesday morning, October 3rd. The drive-up window, staff entrance, and meeting room entrance will be closed to all traffic for the entire day.

Author Casey Daniels to Appear at Twinsburg Library


Local author Casey Daniels will be at the Twinsburg Public Library, 10050 Ravenna Rd., Twinsburg, OH 44087 on Tuesday, October 2nd at 7 pm. Daniels is the author of the Pepper Martin mystery series, including the upcoming Tombs of Endearment, which is set in a fictional version of Cleveland’s Lakeview Cemetery. This appearance is part of the TPL Writers’ Circle Series; Daniels will present a workshop on plotting in fiction using tarot cards. Daniels will also be on hand to sign and sell her books after the workshop. Writers’ Circle is always seeking new members--please call (330) 425-4268 x2 for more information and to register.

Date Change: Mystery Night "Death Gets A Red Card" - Please note that due to the Twinsburg High School Homecoming on October 13, the mystery night for sixth through eighth graders has been
rescheduled to October 20 at 7:00 p.m., as most of our volunteers will be unavailable. Registration for our annual mystery night begins October 1.

You Tube Contest - Teens 13 and up are welcome to submit a video of the comedic or dramatic variety to lleonard@twinsburg.lib.oh.us, in order to participate in the Teen Read Week Contest. Videos should be of appropriate and tasteful content, submitted by September 30 and will be posted on the Library's YouTube page, beginning October 1. Votes will be tabulated for the best comedic and dramatic videos, and winners announced on October 18.

WILD ABOUT EYES KIOSK

September 28 through October 31 our Children's Place will be hosting "Wild About Eyes", a small kiosk-sized interactive
exhibit that also teaches children and adults about
eye health and safety. This visiting exhibit is on loan
from the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery in Dayton and will be on display in only 11 libraries across Ohio from 2007 through 2008.

Parking lot project is almost complete

If everything goes well, the barriers should be removed Wednesday, September 19th and the main parking lot will be available for staff and public use. The drive-up service area will be closed part of the day on Wednesday or Thursday for resealing and striping. We will post that information as soon as we are notified by Perrin Asphalt.

Thank you all for your patience during this project. We also thank the Twinsburg School District for allowing us to use their staff parking area during the summer and after school hours. Thanks also to Twinsburg City Hall for allowing our staff to use their parking area during the entire project.

Parking Lot Update - 09.14.2007

A "roll test" was done on Thursday to check the stabilization work. Two "soft" spots were found and are being repaired today (Friday). Paving is scheduled for Monday followed by painting, sealing of the other areas (if the PO request is approved) and replacing the grass along the curbs. Should be done next week.

Sunday Hours Resume This Weekend

The Library will be open Sunday from 1-5 p.m. Visitors & staff may use the high school lot for overflow parking weekends and evenings during this phase of construction.

Final phase of the Parking Lot project is underway

For the next two weeks be sure to allow a little bit of extra time when driving to the Library. The main driveway is closed, please follow the detour signs around the back of the high school and fitness center.

The drive-up window and book/media returns are open again!
